Privacy Policy

PropScout ("PropScout", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use propscout.live, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
1. Who we are
PropScout is an independent comparison and review platform for proprietary trading ("prop") firms. We are not a broker, prop firm, or financial advisor. If you have questions about this policy you can reach us at privacy@propscout.live.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the site and improve it:
- Information you give us. Email address (newsletter, Firm Finder results, Learn library access, Brand Kit downloads), account details if you sign up (email and password hash), preferences you save (saved firms, comparison lists), and any reviews, ratings, or messages you submit.
- Automatic information. IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps. We use this for security, fraud prevention, and aggregate analytics.
- Affiliate click data. When you click an outbound link to a prop firm we may record the click (firm, timestamp, anonymised IP, referrer) so we can attribute commissions and measure which guides are useful.
- Cookies and local storage. Strictly necessary cookies for login sessions and small browser storage for your saved-firm list and comparison drawer.
We do not collect trading account credentials, payment card data, government IDs, or any other sensitive personal data.
3. How we use your information
- To deliver the features you ask for (quiz results, saved firms, downloads, reviews).
- To send the emails you opt in to: weekly deals, new firm reviews, verification, and account notices.
- To track affiliate clicks so partners can attribute commissions.
- To detect abuse, spam reviews, and fraudulent sign-ups.
- To measure traffic and improve content, rankings, and UX.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
4. Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Consent — marketing emails and non-essential cookies.
- Contract — providing your account and saved data.
- Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, aggregate analytics, and affiliate attribution.
- Legal obligation — record-keeping where required by law.
5. Sharing your data
We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with the processors that help us run the site:
- Hosting and database — our cloud backend provider.
- Email delivery — Resend (transactional and marketing emails).
- Analytics — privacy-respecting traffic analytics.
- Prop firm partners — only the fact that a click came from PropScout, never your email or account.
- Authorities — when legally required.
6. How long we keep your data
- Account data — until you delete your account.
- Email subscriber records — until you unsubscribe, then on a suppression list so we don't email you again.
- Affiliate click logs — up to 24 months, then aggregated.
- Server logs — up to 90 days.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Port your data to another service.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@propscout.live. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time via the link in every email or from the unsubscribe page.
8. Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, hashed passwords, row-level security on our database, and least-privilege access controls. No system is perfectly secure — if you suspect a vulnerability please email security@propscout.live.
9. International transfers
Our processors may store data in the EU, UK, or US. Where data leaves your region we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
10. Children
PropScout is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced on the site and, for subscribers, by email. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.
